Rameswaram (రామేశ్వరం)
Today: Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu
This is the very tip of the land, where the vanara army finally reached the roaring sea and set up camp - with Lanka somewhere far beyond the waves. From this shore Hanuman made his great leap, and from this shore the bridge of floating stones began. Tradition says Rama worshipped Shiva here before the war, and the grand Ramanathaswamy temple that stands there today is one of the holiest places many Telugu families make a yatra to visit.
What happened here
- Hanuman's Leap to Lanka: The army camps on the shore; Hanuman prepares to leap
