Mithila (మిథిల)
Today: Traditionally identified with Janakpur, in modern Nepal
Mithila was the kingdom of the wise King Janaka, who found baby Sita in a furrow while ploughing a field - which is why she is also called Janaki. Janaka kept an enormous, ancient bow of Shiva in his palace, so heavy that whole armies could not lift it. Rama not only lifted it, he strung it so powerfully that it snapped in two - and that is how Rama and Sita were married.
