Hidimba Forest (హిడింబ వనం)

Today: Traditionally a forest east of the old Kuru lands

After escaping the burning palace, the Pandavas hid in this deep, dark forest - and while everyone else slept, Bhima kept watch. A rakshasa named Hidimba attacked, and Bhima defeated him. But Hidimba's sister Hidimbi had a kind heart, and she and Bhima were married. Their son was Ghatotkacha, a giant gentle hero who would one day return to help his father in the great war.
