Far in the mountainous northwest, at the very edge of Bharatavarsha, lay the kingdom of Gandhara. This was the homeland of Gandhari, who married King Dhritarashtra and covered her own eyes with a cloth for life - and of her brother Shakuni, who never forgave Hastinapura and whose loaded dice set the whole war in motion. It shows how one grudge, carried from far away, can shake the entire world.
